Optometrist Elizabeth M. Darby, OD
Dr. Elizabeth Darby founded Heart of Vision Eye Care with the belief that exceptional eye care should be clear, compassionate, and truly personal. At times affectionately referred to simply as ‘Doc’, she takes pride in creating an unhurried, welcoming experience where patients feel comfortable asking questions and are confident in their care.
After graduating from Southern College of Optometry in 2001, Dr. Darby has spent most of her career practicing independently in private practice. Her approach to care is thoughtful and patient-centered, combining modern diagnostic technology with clear explanations and individualized recommendations.
What truly sets Elizabeth apart is her strong optical background. Before attending optometry school, she began her career in an optometric practice as a receptionist and went on to apprentice as an optician, eventually becoming licensed and ABO certified. This hands-on experience gives her a unique perspective when helping patients understand lens options, eyewear choices, and how vision solutions fit into real life – not just prescriptions on paper.
While Dr. Darby is new to Tupelo, she is no stranger to North Mississippi. With a large family rooted throughout the area, she feels a deep connection to the community and is excited to build lasting relationships with patients and family locally.
Outside of the office, Elizabeth enjoys spending time with her husband, Jim, their miniature schnauzer, Bella, and a very full circle of family that includes children, grandchildren, siblings and close friends. She finds joy in her faith and in nature, especially along the Gulf Coast and the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia – places that reflect the calm, grounded approach she brings to both life and patient care.
